The sticky heat of Darwin’s build up causes melt down. Those who live up here all know this. The pressure cooker effect of 34 degree heat and 70 percent humidity transforms minor mishaps, such as misplacing your keys, into major catastrophes that push normally rational beings over the edge. However, the intensity of this time also produces wild growth and palpable fecundity. Nature swells, ripens, blooms, droops and oozes. Molten, malleable beeswax emits a seductive aroma throughout my studio as I reckon with the elemental conditions of the tropics.
